by Isabella, age 3
There was a princess who lived in a nice castle. Her name was Kolluna. She liked playing with balloons. One day while at the beach, she blew up some balloons to play with, and a big monster showed up. He was a bad monster. He had yellow scales, two tiny eyes and tiny little baby teeth. He had noticed her because of her bright balloons. He wanted to eat Princess Kolluna. The princess ran into the ocean and some mermaids came and rescued her. She was so happy that the mermaids helped her that she gave them each one of her balloons as a thank you.

The Butterfly Learns About The Kindness Of Others
by Gabriella, age 6
Once upon a time, there was a little butterfly. The butterfly was orange and blue. The butterfly had a big surprise one day. A little boy came along and thought she was just a leaf, and he stood on one of her wings. The butterfly tried to get home but she couldn’t. Her wing hurt and she couldn’t fly. A worm had built a cave home in the ground and he let her stay there. He made her a blanket out of soil to keep her warm. She was there, nursing her wounded wing, for eight days. Then a caterpillar came by. The caterpillar was really clever. He put the butterfly on his back and took her home. The next day, there was a very big surprise; her wing was better! She was so happy that she flew all the way to space and back again.

The Mermaid & The Sea Monster
by Isabella, 3 years old
Once upon a time, there was a pretty mermaid named Playna. She lived with all of the other mermaids in the sea. One day, she was exploring when she heard a baby mermaid crying. She found little baby mermaid Cameron in a cave, but when she got there, she was captured by the same sea monster who had captured the baby mermaid. She knew they needed to sneak away from the sea monster before he decided to eat them, so she found some seaweed for the baby to suck on to keep him quiet, and then she waited for the sea monster to fall asleep. As soon as the sea monster fell asleep, she picked up the baby and swam away really fast until they were safe.

The Tangle Fairies
This is a little story that Isabella made up to explain the tangles in her hair today. She even found a tiny scrap that she rolled into a ball and told me that it was the "Tangle Fairy." She soon had a whole collection of them in her purse. I love the imagination involved in this idea, so I asked her to tell me about the "Tangle Fairy" as if she was telling me a story. This is the result.
The Tangle Fairies
by Isabella, 3 years old
A little girl named Bella had long blonde hair, and her mommy brushed her hair every night before bed. Bella still woke up every morning with lots of tangles in her hair. It hurt to have the tangles brushed out. Bella decided to find out why her hair would get so tangled every night.
She went to bed that night but only pretended to be sleeping. Soon, she felt something tugging on her hair, so she grabbed her hand to that part of her hair. She felt something in her hand and then heard something say, “Ouch!” She looked at what she had grabbed. A tiny fairy sat in her hand. The little fairy had blue wings, was sparkly and had messy hair.
“Why are you tangling up my hair every night?” she asked the tiny fairy.
The fairy said, “Because I’m a Tangle Fairy!”
Bella could see that the Tangle Fairy was a very naughty fairy. Bella put the Tangle Fairy in her purse so that it couldn’t tangle her hair anymore. But the next morning, her hair was tangled again. Again, she set a trap. Again, she caught a Tangle Fairy. Soon, she had lots of Tangle Fairies in her purse.
She felt bad for the Tangle Fairies being trapped in her purse, so she let them all go and her mommy kept having to brush the tangles out of her hair every morning.

Summer
Gabriella, 6 years old, decided to write a poem/song today about Summer.
Summer
I see sun
in the sky.
It sings
Summer's here.
It's coming
Back for you.
Summer, Summer,
Summer, s-Summer.
You might have a holiday,
Out in the sun,
But you know you know
That it's Summer.
Summer, Summer,
Summer, s-Summer.
Summer
I see sun
in the sky.
It sings
Summer's here.
It's coming
Back for you.
Summer, Summer,
Summer, s-Summer.
You might have a holiday,
Out in the sun,
But you know you know
That it's Summer.
Summer, Summer,
Summer, s-Summer.

Story Magic
Another story that Isabella told me was a dream she had last night.
Story Magic
by Isabella, 3 yrs. old
There was an evil magician who was short and fat. He got his magic from his magic wand. He liked doing evil things. Because unicorns were full of good magic, he found a unicorn and used his wand to send it into the pages of a story. I tried to stop him by telling him he was a naughty man, so he sent me into the story too. From inside the book, I tricked him. First, I asked him what his evil plan was. When he tried to tell me, I pretended that I couldn’t hear him. He zapped himself into the book to explain his plan to me. I grabbed his magic wand and used it to send the unicorn back into the real world and then I sent myself out of the book too. The evil magician was trapped in the book forever.

The Fire Girl
The Fire Girl
by Isabella, 3 years old
There once was a girl made of fire. Her name was Isabella and she had orange hair. She took care of dragons.
She saved a baby from the dragons when the dragons tried to blow fire on him. The baby started to cry, so she danced and sang for him and he stopped crying.
When the dragons flew away, she would be sad until they returned, but she played with the baby she had saved and it made her happy again.
