A Good Summer With Teddy
by Gabriella, age 7
One day, I was going to the beach for the whole summer. I had to pack loads of clothes and things. I didn’t forget to bring my teddy bear. His name was Teddy, and he was very special to me. When it was time to go, we took a truck to the beach, because we had lots of boxes of our things to bring with us for the summer.
It took four hours to get there. During those four hours, I did some drawing and I played with Teddy and some of my other toys. I also read a book that took me a whole hour to read.
When I got to the beach, we parked the truck and then had to walk a small distance to the hotel. The hotel manager said we had to go to room 616 on the top floor. We opened the door, and we unpacked our things. It took us a whole afternoon to unpack out things.
After we unpacked our things, I picked up Teddy and he was alive! I was very surprised to see him moving on his own! He spoke to me and we had a long chat. He explained that sometimes on very special days during the summer toys can come alive.
We went to the beach again, and we started to build sand castles. When it was 7:00pm, we went back to the hotel because it was bed time. It was a wonderful day playing with Teddy on the beach, and I hoped that he would be able to come alive again someday.

Fairy Wings
Fairy Wings
by Isabella, age 4
There was a little fairy named Lea who wanted to fly like the other fairies, but couldn’t because she had no wings. Another fairy who did have wings lifted her up and flew her around.
She loved being flown through the air, but she wanted to be able to fly without help.
She asked other fairy how she got her wings. The other fairy said, “I have several pairs. I’m the Wing Fairy, and I am the one who gives other fairies their wings.”
The Wing Fairy found a pair of wings for Lea and put them on her. And then little fairy Lea could fly! She flapped her wings and flew high in the sky. She was happy.

The Mermaid & The Boy
The Mermaid & The Boy
by Isabella, age 4
There was a pretty mermaid named Jackie and she saw a boy sleeping on the beach. The ocean’s waves were getting closer to him. The ocean wanted to sweep him away, but she didn’t want him to drown. She couldn’t go on the beach so she sang a song to wake him up.
She sang the “Happy Birthday” song but with different words. She sang,
“You are asleep,
And the ocean
Is coming.
You are asleep,
But you need to
Wake up soon.”
He woke up and saw the waves getting close to him. He stood up, but slipped as the water reached his feet and fell into the water. The ocean’s waves quickly tried to pull him out to sea.
As he swam back to shore, he saw the pretty mermaid Jackie and he knew it had been her song that woke him up and saved him from being swept out to sea while he slept. He never forgot her.

The Tangle Fairies
This is a little story that Isabella made up to explain the tangles in her hair today. She even found a tiny scrap that she rolled into a ball and told me that it was the "Tangle Fairy." She soon had a whole collection of them in her purse. I love the imagination involved in this idea, so I asked her to tell me about the "Tangle Fairy" as if she was telling me a story. This is the result.
The Tangle Fairies
by Isabella, 3 years old
A little girl named Bella had long blonde hair, and her mommy brushed her hair every night before bed. Bella still woke up every morning with lots of tangles in her hair. It hurt to have the tangles brushed out. Bella decided to find out why her hair would get so tangled every night.
She went to bed that night but only pretended to be sleeping. Soon, she felt something tugging on her hair, so she grabbed her hand to that part of her hair. She felt something in her hand and then heard something say, “Ouch!” She looked at what she had grabbed. A tiny fairy sat in her hand. The little fairy had blue wings, was sparkly and had messy hair.
“Why are you tangling up my hair every night?” she asked the tiny fairy.
The fairy said, “Because I’m a Tangle Fairy!”
Bella could see that the Tangle Fairy was a very naughty fairy. Bella put the Tangle Fairy in her purse so that it couldn’t tangle her hair anymore. But the next morning, her hair was tangled again. Again, she set a trap. Again, she caught a Tangle Fairy. Soon, she had lots of Tangle Fairies in her purse.
She felt bad for the Tangle Fairies being trapped in her purse, so she let them all go and her mommy kept having to brush the tangles out of her hair every morning.

Story Magic
Another story that Isabella told me was a dream she had last night.
Story Magic
by Isabella, 3 yrs. old
There was an evil magician who was short and fat. He got his magic from his magic wand. He liked doing evil things. Because unicorns were full of good magic, he found a unicorn and used his wand to send it into the pages of a story. I tried to stop him by telling him he was a naughty man, so he sent me into the story too. From inside the book, I tricked him. First, I asked him what his evil plan was. When he tried to tell me, I pretended that I couldn’t hear him. He zapped himself into the book to explain his plan to me. I grabbed his magic wand and used it to send the unicorn back into the real world and then I sent myself out of the book too. The evil magician was trapped in the book forever.

The Fire Girl
The Fire Girl
by Isabella, 3 years old
There once was a girl made of fire. Her name was Isabella and she had orange hair. She took care of dragons.
She saved a baby from the dragons when the dragons tried to blow fire on him. The baby started to cry, so she danced and sang for him and he stopped crying.
When the dragons flew away, she would be sad until they returned, but she played with the baby she had saved and it made her happy again.

A Ladybug Named Docky
by Isabella (age 3)
Once there was a little tiny ladybug. Her name was Docky and she twirled around. A fairy turned her into a frog, and she hopped around saying, “Ribbit.” She didn’t like being a frog. After a while, she turned back into herself again. She was so happy to be herself again that she started dancing on her toes, twirling and kicking her legs.

The Giant Teddy Bear
Isabella, my three year old, told me a story today based on a dream she had last night.
The Giant Teddy Bear
There once was a giant teddy bear. It hugged me. It hugged me so tight that I couldn't breath. I needed to get away, so I turned myself into a monster. When the giant teddy bear didn't run away, I stomped my feet fast and loud on the ground. I scared the giant teddy bear away.
A little boy who had been scared of the giant teddy bear came over and thanked me. I turned back into a girl again, and the little boy kissed me on my cheek.
We both grew wings and flew away.

Marbles & Flowers
Gabriella wrote this when she was three years old (almost four). It is one of my favorite stories from her that she wrote at that age. (She dictated the story to her daddy and he typed it up.)
Marbles & Flowers
by Gabriella
There once was a really beautiful fairy named Gabriella. She was playing marbles in the sky with God. Rumbles of thunder could be heard as marble crashed against marble. Later, she found a flower that belonged to her friend and had been left by her friend for Gabriella to find. Gabriella wanted to show God her flower. When she got to his house, she had a nice cold drink as it was a hot day.

Lasunk The Giant
Lasunk the Giantby Gabriella, 3 years old
There was a big giant called Lasunk. Lasunk lived in a big castle. He walked really quietly. He snuck up on Gabby and kissed her. He left drool all over Gabby because his lips were so big. Then he roared at Gabby, just being silly. He also cuddled her, but he was so big that he had to pick her up and hold her by his cheek so she could give him a kiss because she was so tiny.
Gabby and he decided to see how high they could jump. Gabby jumped high, but Lasunk jumped much higher. Lasunk the giant picked her up and took her to Noland where he lived in his big castle.
In Noland, Gabby saw a monster, but Lasunk protected her from it. The flowers there were really big. So were the boats. Even Lasunk’s bottom was really big! He took Gabby through a tunnel and back home. He promised to come see her again soon.
