by Gabriella, age 8
I will put it in the box...
the ssss of a smooth snake on a sunny day,
rain from the eyes of crying angels,
a tiny teen tooting on a trumpet.
I will put it in the box....
a fierce crocodile with a very strong muscle,
a step on the golden path of paint,
a scratch from a king of lions.
I will put it in the box...
one silver sparkle spread in America,
the first lick of a newborn pup,
and the first word of love.
I will put it in the box...
a second rainbow and a purple worm,
a dragon flying with fairy wings,
and a fairy flying with dragon wings.
My box is fashioned from stars and moons and crystals,
with wings on the lid and ponies in the corners.
Its hinges are the sound of a dancing cow.
I shall fly in my box,
in the great warm fluffy clouds of the south.
Then slowly land on a nested tree.

Dragons
a poem by Gabriella, age 8
Dragons, dragons,
Burn your prayer,
Think of tastes
Everywhere.
Dragons, dragons,
Fierce and dry,
Keep your scales
Nice and bright.

Harvest Day
My daughter Gabriella wrote this poem for her school's Harvest Day performance. She read it outloud to the audience today.
Harvest Day
by Gabriella, 7 years old
Harvest time to share
Harvest food for you and me.
Animals munching food,
It’s harvest time.
Harvest food for you and me.
Farmers collecting veg,
Apples, green or red,
Harvest food for you and me.
Oranges, juicy and sweet,
Apples, falling from the trees,
Harvest food for you and me.
Watermelons, big and heavy,
Bananas, yellow and delicious,
Harvest food for you and me.
I love Harvest.

Summer
Gabriella, 6 years old, decided to write a poem/song today about Summer.
Summer
I see sun
in the sky.
It sings
Summer's here.
It's coming
Back for you.
Summer, Summer,
Summer, s-Summer.
You might have a holiday,
Out in the sun,
But you know you know
That it's Summer.
Summer, Summer,
Summer, s-Summer.
Summer
I see sun
in the sky.
It sings
Summer's here.
It's coming
Back for you.
Summer, Summer,
Summer, s-Summer.
You might have a holiday,
Out in the sun,
But you know you know
That it's Summer.
Summer, Summer,
Summer, s-Summer.
